Here are Denver’s 10 most popular charities in Fidelity Charitable’s giving report

Denver area residents and businesses are most likely to give to human services, according to a new report released today by Fidelity Charitable.

The investment firm’s charity arm’s report, " Giving by Geography," analyzed donor giving habits in the 30 most-populated U.S. metros. Specifically, Fidelity Charitable looked at recommend grants to nonprofits across eight philanthropic sectors:

Arts and culture. Education. Environment and animals. Health. Human services. International affairs. Religion. Society benefit.

The data comes from Fidelity’s internal database and looks only at Fidelity Charitable activity for the 2016 calendar year.

According to the report, Fidelity wrote 10,391 grants in 2016 totaling $17.4 million in the Denver-Aurora metro area. The average spend per grant was $1,687, and 46 percent of grant dollars went to local charities.

Fidelity Investments, based in Boston, ranked second by the number of active brokers in the city, according to DBJ Lists research.
